Girls Wrestling: Laws Leads Ladies At Lynbrook

The Titans sent a partial squad to the Lynbrook Girls Wrestling Tournament on Saturday and came away with four placewinners out of four entrants.

Gunn’s charge was led by junior Julia Laws (137), who racked up three pins en route to a title.  Junior Maia Foelsch (126) finished sixth following a wild back-and-forth match with a final score of 10-11, while senior Natalie Jue (131) emerged as Consolation Champ with one pin. Sophomore Kayla Lin (131) also reached the finals, before ultimately falling to her opponent from Willow Glen. Complete results as follows:

1st       Julia Laws, Jr (137) 3-0, 3 pins
2nd      Kayla Lin, So (131) 1-1, 1 pin
3rd       Maia Foelsch. Jr (126) 1-2, 1 pin
Cons. Champ (7th) Natalie Jue, Sr (131) 1-1, 1 pin

Next up:
The Titans resume competition after Winter Break with their first league dual of the season versus the Monta Vista Matadors on Thursday, January 4 (at Monta Vista at 5:30 p.m.).  The very next two days will be spent at Cupertino HS at a JV (Friday) and Varsity (Saturday) tournament.
