Saint Francis 9, Gunn 7

Date of competition: Friday, March 17, 2017

On Friday, March 17, Gunn played St. Francis in a non-league game. At halftime, Gunn was down a point, 4 to 5.
In the last 7 minutes of the game Gunn tied up the game 7 to 7 but Saint Francis scored twice in the last few minutes.
The final score was 7 to 9.

Sophomore Grace Williams had 2 goals and an assist followed by Juniors Becca Chapman and Jenilee Chen with 2 goals each, Junior Emily Axtell with one and Laurel Comiter with an assist. Senior midfielder Janis Iourovitski led draw controls and turnovers.

Junior Anna Tsai, Sophomore Julia Stoneburner and Senior Lucy Augustine played great defense with multiple ground balls and turnovers. Senior goalkeeper Mikaela Wayne had 5 saves.

Gunn 10, Los Gatos 9

Date of competition: Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Gunn defeated Los Gatos 10-9. Senior Janis Iourovitski started off the night with a goal in the first 30 seconds and at half-time the score was 5 to 5. Going into the last minute of the game, they were tied 9 to 9 and Senior Olivia Chen drove to the goal and scored to give Gunn the lead. Ten goals were scored by 7 players, 2 each for Janis Iourovitski, Jenilee Chen and Becca Chapman and a goal for Andrea Garcia-Milla, Laurel Comiter, Olivia Chen and Grace Williams. Goalkeeper Mikaela Wayne had 10 saves. Gunn plays St. Francis on Friday, 3/17 at 7:30pm at home.

 

Gunn 11, Mountain View 3

Date of competition: Friday, March 10, 2017

Gunn moved their record to 4-0, 3-0 in league play as they defeated Mountain View 11 to 3. Gunn was off to a fast start as Grace Williams scored within the first minute of the game followed by goals from Becca Chapman and Laurel Comiter within the next 2 minutes. In the end, Becca Chapman scored a total of 3 for Gunn, Grace Williams tallied 2, Emily Axtell and Andrea Garcia-Milla added 2 each and Olivia Chen scored 1. Gunn defenders Anna Tsai, Marlene Goetz, Lucy Augustine and Julia Stoneburner all displayed strong defense. Goalkeeper Mikaela Wayne had a great night as she stopped 10 shots on goal. Gunn resumes play Tuesday night at Los Gatos.
